Fit & Comfort
How should a pair of mair fit?
A frame should rest level on your face, sit lightly on the bridge of your nose, and follow the line of your temples without pinching. Each style in the Azure Collection lists its full measurements on its product page, so you can compare them against a pair you already own and love.
If you are unsure which frame suits you, share your measurements with us and we will guide you to the closest fit.
The temples feel slightly loose behind my ears. Can they be adjusted?
Yes. Acetate is a naturally adaptable material and responds gently to warmth, which is what makes a tailored fit possible. The ends of the temples can be eased into a softer curve so they follow the shape behind your ears and hold the frame securely in place.
The simplest method is to warm the last few centimetres of each temple for a few seconds, either with warm (not boiling) water or a hairdryer on a low setting, until the material becomes pliable. Curve it gently with your fingers to the contour you want, then hold the new shape under cool water to set it. Work in small steps and avoid excessive heat, which can affect the finish.
If you would rather not adjust them yourself, any optician can shape the temples for you in moments, and we are always happy to advise.
Are mair frames suitable for prescription lenses?
Most styles can be fitted with prescription lenses by your optician. We recommend taking the frame to a trusted lens specialist who can confirm suitability for your prescription and lens type.
Materials & Care
What are mair frames made from?
Each frame is cut and polished from Italian acetate in small runs, with five-barrel metal hinges set into the material. Lenses are CR-39, Category 3, with full UVA and UVB protection. Because acetate carries the grain of the sheet it came from, no two frames are quite the same.
How do I care for my sunglasses?
Clean the lenses only with the microfibre cloth included in your case. Avoid contact with sunscreen, perfume and hairspray, and keep the frame out of prolonged heat, such as a closed car in summer, as acetate softens when warm.
Remove your glasses with two hands rather than one. It keeps the hinges true over time. When they are not being worn, store them in their case.
Is each frame engraved?
Yes. Every frame is laser-etched on the inside of the temple with its name, its measurements, the CAT.3 mark and its own quiet phrase. Each phrase is unique to its frame, a small detail meant for the wearer.
